What is the Wonderlic SLE?
The Scholastic Level Exam (SLE) is Wonderlic’s cognitive ability test for student admissions. Wonderlic says it measures cognitive ability, which it calls the best predictor of academic success; Fortis College, for example, sets SLE minimums for its nursing, dental hygiene, medical assisting and trade programs. The test is given in person under supervision, online or on paper. For remote testing there is a shorter version, the SLE-Q.
How many questions are on the SLE, and how long is it?
The standard SLE has 50 questions in 12 minutes, about 14 seconds a question. The SLE-Q, the remote quicktest, has 30 questions in 8 minutes, about 16 seconds a question.
What is the SLE-Q, the 8-minute version?
The SLE-Q is Wonderlic’s remote quicktest: 30 questions in 8 minutes, meant for distance learners who take it from home. Your school decides whether you take the SLE-Q, the full SLE in person, or both. The course has two SLE-Q simulations on the 8-minute clock next to the four 50-question SLE simulations.
What score do I need on the Wonderlic SLE?
Your school sets it, often per program. At Fortis College in Salt Lake City the 2026–27 catalog lists 19 for Practical Nursing, 22 for the associate nursing and dental hygiene programs, 13 for Medical Assisting and 11 for HVAC-R. Wonderlic’s SLE page names no general passing score. Ask your admissions office for your number; the course planner then sets your training target five points higher.
What kinds of questions are on the SLE?
Wonderlic’s SLE page does not list the question types. The course prepares you with the eight types of the 50-question Wonderlic format: word meaning, analogies, logic, number and letter series, math without a calculator, tables and graphs, spatial figures, and detail and order. The free test on this page has all eight.
Can I use a calculator on the SLE?
Wonderlic’s SLE page does not say. Our advice: prepare without one. The free test and every drill and simulation in the course are built for mental math, with shortcuts in unit C5.
How do I prepare for the SLE in one or two weeks?
Take SLE simulation 1 cold as your diagnostic, read the pace lesson C0, then work through units C1 to C8: one a day in two weeks, two a day in one week. Finish with the other SLE and SLE-Q simulations, at most one a day, and review every miss. The study plans above show both routes.
Is the SLE the same as the Wonderlic test for jobs?
No. The SLE is the admissions test for schools. Employers send Wonderlic Select, the hiring assessment formerly called WonScore, which adds motivation and personality to a 50-question, 12-minute cognitive part. Both cognitive parts run at the same pace, and the course covers both.
